New Beginnings - IWSG

Today marks the second anniversary of the Insecure Writers Support Group, founded by Alex "no hyperlink needed" Cavanaugh. Congrats on building such a successful group! And since I know Alex will be quick to point out it's a group effort, I'll do it for him. The success of this group is due to the overwhelming support of so many great people – all of you who work tirelessly to help others and give encouragement or a helping hand.

I named this post New Beginnings because this will be my first blog post. Arriving on the second anniversary of IWSG should tell you I enjoy being fashionably late.

Well, not really.

They say that every ending also signals a new beginning. That's a cheerful way to look at the inevitable, I suppose. For me – a wanderer at heart – it means a continuation of my journey, only I thought by now I would have settled into one place. I thought I had.

I was wrong.

I am hoping in the coming months to rebuild the scattered pieces of my life but I'm going to need some help from all of you. If you will allow me to lean on you when I feel like I can't take another step, I think I can manage.

  1. I'm so very happy to having stayed up late today, for this way I'm the first to comment in your first post. Dragon hugs. Here it is a scaly shoulder you can lean on whenever you wish or need it. There's also a dragon hands, and a couple of wings, and some good fire in case you need to burn something down at no charge, except maybe for a few bolitas now and then. ;)

  2. Applause, laughter and hugs are available anytime. I provide twisted humour for no extra charge.
As an aside - I am flabber and ghasted, gob and smacked that any of you feel insecure. You all have talent oozing from every aperture, which no doubt means that your laundry costs are always high.

    1. I love your twisted humor, EC, and your hugs and laughter. You need your fair share too and I will freely give them.
Flabber and ghasted - I love that! Yes, we ooze talent but also fear, sweat, tears, insecurities, and blood. That's why we write naked...the laundry costs are terrible.

  3. Just stopping by from the IWSG :)

    Congratulations on your new blog!

The thing i LOVE about the blogging writing community is that there is always someone who will listen, encourage and support. You have come to a good place honey, you lean away :)

  6. Laura, my heart both aches for you in your pain and fear and pounds in excitement for you in what lies ahead once the turmoil finds its place. This journey that is carrying you isn't random but intentional. And along the way, you have friends on a similar journey waiting to greet you and hug you.

And if you decide you need to run away to Colorado, let me know. :)

    1. Thank you for the postive way of looking at it, Julie. :) I need that kind of message right now. I would run away to CO if it weren't for that pesky altitude thing you've got going on. Gives me migraines. :(

  7. It was difficult for me to make the switch from Blogger to WordPress. I feared starting over...losing what I had already built (and it was only five months). But those who liked what I had to say stuck with me. I'm sure the same will be for you, because we LOVE you. (So...should I just desert the other blog?)

    1. Hi Mike! Yeah, I switched from blogger to WP and now I'm back here with a different name. Only the toughest will find me. ;) Thank you for the love! As for the other one? I need to keep it for a while but I don't want to make twice the work for myself or anybody commenting. I'll probably blog 1x a week here and 1x a week there and see how it goes. *shrug*

  8. It's tough to deal with problems in your life and be a writer too. I kind of had an insecurity-related freak-out yesterday, utter despair about my writing ambitions, but today I feel a bit better. That's the way it goes, I guess. I hope your writing and your life will go well.

    1. Thanks, Nissa! (I love cats too!) Writers are a curious combination of insecurities and hubris, aren't we? :)

  13. Congratulations, River, on your new blog. I like the blog name, Seasoned with Words, and how appropriate the title of your first post is: "New Beginnings." Even though EC got a comment in on this one before I did, I'm going to show you my loyalty. Many, many hugs, River.

Thank you for all the hugs. :D I surprised myself with the blog name. It just popped into my head which normally doesn't happen. I was immensely grateful, being in the middle of setting this up and not wanting to take the time to mull it over.

  15. Yo River!

How's it flowin', yall? Oh yeah, a new beginning, a second birthday and the continued delusional amazement by my human, Gary. Yes, the crazee dude still thinks that "IWSG" means, "I Was Seeking Gary."

On a serious note, my human friend, Gary and I and all your other friends, are here for you. All the beast, um best.

    Stay chillin',

Yeah, that IWSG thing is for real, you know? I mean, Gary owns it and that's okay.

Thanks for being here for me with the beast and all. It means everything to me. I know I have some good friends here in the internet galaxy!

I, fer shur, am a good candidate.

Glad to be able to comment on your new blog, River. A name I'm fond of...but then...dancers with great mental powers who can kick serious rear-end...what's not to like? :)
