It’s May. The
birds are singing. The flowers blooming. My inadequate efforts in April flash
before my eyes. Once again, I must face the fact I am not Wonder Woman. Sigh
Mea culpa, for
not visiting many during the A to Z. I could (happily, as it were) blame my
muse but I didn’t meet all my obligations. I don’t know…maybe I bite off more
than I can chew because I like to flog myself? Whatever it is, I always end up
feeling guilty.
I’m making a
promise to myself now – with all of you as witness – that I will allow myself
time to WRITE, for that should be my main function as a writer, no?
Peace, love, and
chocolate.
Definitely you need to allow time to write. Lots of time. To feed my (and other's) addictions.
ReplyDeletePeace, love, chocolate and felines to you.
And some punch as a reward - or an incentive - when necessary.
DeleteI am most happy to feed your addictions, EC! The felines here accept your homage as their due. ;)
DeleteAs for punch - its value as both necessity and reward cannot be measured on any scale!
That is what we are supposed to do. Mine was mostly on hold last month, but I'm back at it now.
ReplyDeleteI've long decided you are Super Ninja, Alex. :) Glad to hear you're back at your novel!
DeleteI'm doing the same, writing has to come first.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we could invent a time machine, Julie...oh, wait. Chronos already screws up time. It's his fault we don't have enough hours in the day. ;)
DeleteI, for one, am glad to hear you're going to be taking time to write, because I love what you write.
ReplyDeleteHave I told you how much I love you, Loni? :D
Delete*makes a note to send Loni some of Jezebel's punch*
Put me down as one of your witnesses, River. No more guilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joylene! :) Now I should scribble your last sentence on my wall...in permanent marker...
DeleteYou are not Wonder Woman? You had me fooled.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Michael. I was just borrowing Superman's cape when you saw me...and the bullet-deflecting bracelets were fake. ;)
DeleteYour main focus should be to write! Don't feel guilty! I'm finally getting back to writing after such a hectic month.
ReplyDeleteBut guilt is what we've been taught. It's an old-shoe feeling. LOL! I hope things smooth out for you, Chrys, and you write up a storm! :)
DeleteMy dragon goodness, you just launched two books and you say you had not been writing? What would it be if you were indeed writing then? Don't feel guilty. Get your attention on what makes you happy right away. Dragon Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Al. :) They were more like cleaning up the pieces already done. As for happy...I'll take a dragon hug or three!
DeleteYou had me fooled, River. I think publishing two books at the same time, with a third on the way, is quite an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could fool you, Ron. ;) It was more feeling guilty because everything else slid by while I wrote. I know...don't blog. :)
DeleteWriting is up there at the top of my list, but how does it so often slide down to number 10,000? You did real good, so ease up on yourself. In fact, a pat on the back is in order, so do that, too! Can you reach? If not, here's my cyber "PAT, PAT"!
ReplyDeleteWhile you're patting, Lee, could you rub the knots out of my shoulders?
DeleteIt's all slippery...you grab one thing and five others slide. *sigh*
Writing does need to be at the top of our lists. And here I am fiddling about on the internets!
ReplyDeleteAnd here we fiddle, Christine! :)
DeleteNot Wonder Woman? He-ey. Congrats on the A to Z Challenge. I admire anyone who does it. I caught a glimpse of your exciting news on Monday. Congrats on the new release!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane! It is exciting...and exhausting, too. ;)
DeleteYou've certainly been a very prolific writer. So while you're allowing yourself time to write, do enjoy well deserved chocolate breaks with the finest of chocolate (e.g., European). Mmm!
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
Yum! Thanks for the tip, Robyn. :) I wish I could go to Europe to properly indulge in their chocolate at the source.
DeleteIt helps to write everyday, but not writing is not not being a writer. If you have it in your system there is no escaping it. You will write when you have something to put down.
ReplyDeleteThat is how it is. :-)
Anna from Shout with Emaginette
You're right about that, Anna. There is no escaping it! LOL
DeleteWe're holding you to your promise. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks, Cherie. :)
DeleteHey River,
ReplyDeleteI have been informed by Lynda Carter that you will be starring in the new version of Wonder Woman.
No need for quilt. Besides, the A to Z now has an alternative that is way less stressful, without any unneeded feelings of guilt :)
Write when you want. That's what Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar has told me.
Thank you for being part of "IWSG" aka "I Was Seeking Gary."
Gary :)
I wouldn't miss a "I Was Seeking Gary" post for anything!
DeletePlease thank Penny for me, and also thank Lynda for the opportunity. I only hope my waist is as small as hers...
Hugs to you! :)
Well then, I guess I like a good flogging, too. I've been trying to ease back on giving myself so many obligations, but I'm always overly optimistic in the planning phase. I hope you find time this month to follow your muse and find plenty of time to write. :)
ReplyDeleteExactly, Skye! Overly optimistic in the planning stage. We must be twins. ;)
DeleteI wasn't even man (woman) enough to accept the challenge. I have a senior graduating this year and I, like you, have decided the writing has to come first or what's the point?
ReplyDeleteHaving children still at home really complicates matters, Elizabeth. It's awesome that you've scheduled writing as a priority in an already busy life!
