Weird Word Wednesday

Word
Definition

A sound or a combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing, that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or of a combination of morphemes.

Today's weird word is:

 Jumentous

 Adj

Definition: Smelling like horse urine

I'd like to know why there is a particular word for this phenomena. Wouldn't you sidle up to the person - holding your nose, of course - and say, "Excuse me but you smell like horse piss. Just thought you'd want to know," then run like the wind?
Thoughts?

    1. Jumentous is a particularly pretentious word, and this definition was invented by grey cardigan covered pedants suffering from an excess of self-importance.

Where the word belongs is in another verse to 'Beware the Jabberwock' Jumentous belongs with frumious, vorpal, slither and bander-snatch. And horse piss to anyone who feels differently.

  5. Growing up on a farm where we always had at least one horse, my siblings and I used this word on a daily basis. "You're jumentous!" was considered the ultimate insult.

    1. ROFL, Ron! I probably would have gone with the more generic "You stink!" as a kid.
