D Is For...

D is for…

Dance
“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
― William W. Purkey

Daring
“We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be.”― May Sarton

I'm also over at Untethered Realms today for "D" day, introducing the Dreean from my Jewels of Chandra series. Stop on by and find out a bit about my fantasy creature!

  1. Goodness you are busy today - and yes, I will wander over to Untethered Realms too.
    Love that cat.
It is better for all concerned if no-one IS watching me dance. Which doesn't stop some wobbly expressions of glee.

    1. Hi EC! Expressions of glee are beauty personified, regardless of wobble...unless you step on a cat's tail. Then all bets are off.
Yes, today is a wee bit busy!

  4. I'm totally with this kitty today. Storms and a scared dog kept me up most of the night! And I second Alex about the dancing. I really am that bad LOL.

  5. Hope you don't mind but I'm sending folks over here, I put a link on my page to try and get those awful images out of their head. Love the post!

I do have to admit I LOVE your theme...strictly in a writerly sense, of course... *crosses fingers behind back*

  6. Hey human, River,

My human dances like an old dude at a wedding. And he thinks he's John Travolta.

I certainly am myself. Yes, the lovable Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)

  7. I start to dance, and suddenly nobody is watching. In fact, they're studiously avoiding any eye contact with me.

When I see that quote, I always think of the Dilbert strip: "Dance like it hurts. Love like you need the money. Work when people are watching."

    1. LOL! I hadn't seen that Dilbert strip, Lynda. Thanks for sharing it!

  9. May Sarton is one of my favorites. I love what she wrote about being alone as the only time we are truly ourselves.

    1. It's a sad truth, Lee. We should always feel like we can be ourselves! Maybe that's why I'm always alone... ;)

  10. As Patty Larkin sang: "Might as well dance"

And really love the May Sarton quote.

  14. I always dance like no one is watching. Art club hosted a high school dance (while I was president). It just was me and my vice pres for the first hour or so. I took full advantage of the DJ. My vice looks at me and said, "I wish I was where you are."
